Entry 2:10
It was around this time last year that I realized I was finally on the right track with this business. I was building something I felt deeply passionate about. Something that resonated with so many women. A brand and community helping redefine what it means to be both Mom and CEO proving that we can build incredible businesses alongside motherhood.
Going back into the workforce after becoming a mom was… difficult.
Suddenly, I was looked at differently. Like I was somehow “less available” or less capable because I now had this tiny human depending on me outside of work hours. I was given fewer projects and opportunities because people assumed they were “helping” by not adding more to my plate. When I set boundaries around my schedule, it was viewed differently. Yet when others set boundaries for reasons unrelated to family? Totally acceptable.
I could go on and on.
That experience became one of the biggest driving forces behind building this business because I know I’m not the only woman who has felt this way. There are so many moms out there trying to navigate ambition and motherhood at the same time, and somewhere along the way, society decided those two things couldn’t fully coexist.
That fire lit something in me, and I pursued this business with so much passion, purpose, and energy.
And energy transcends.
When I launched, the validation started pouring in almost immediately. Messages from women saying, “I needed this.” Connections that felt aligned. A community that seemed to start building itself. But I’m also not here to pretend everything magically took off overnight because whew… building a business can feel way slower than it actually is.
And in those slower seasons, it can be hard to stay motivated. Hard to keep showing up when it feels like nothing is happening behind the scenes.
But sometimes, the biggest signs you’re building the right business aren’t loud at all.
So if you’ve been questioning yourself lately, here are a few signs you’re actually on the right business path even when growth feels slow.

The idea for this business came at a time when I honestly wasn’t expecting it.
It happened organically over coffee with a friend while we were chatting about the business she was starting. We were brainstorming strategies for an upcoming sales pitch she had with a potential client, and somewhere in the middle of that conversation, something clicked for me.
I left that coffee shop realizing I had so much I wanted to share and connect with other women about, especially moms. And from that day forward, I couldn’t stop thinking about this business I suddenly felt called to build.
Which is funny because I had just gone through a season where I stepped away from entrepreneurship completely. I truly didn’t think I’d be jumping back in anytime soon… if ever. At least not yet.
But this opportunity felt too aligned to ignore. Like a little nudge from God saying, “Hey… this way.”
So I listened.
I opened the Notes app on my phone and started jotting down ideas, and from that point on, it felt like the floodgates opened. Content ideas. Community ideas. Events. Collaborations. Every single day brought another wave of inspiration, and for the first time in a long time, I couldn’t stop thinking about a business idea in the best possible way.
It genuinely felt like I was birthing a second baby. One built with passion, purpose, and a deep desire to connect with women navigating business and motherhood at the same time.
My first business was filled with overthinking and constant second-guessing. This time, even when things felt hard, they still felt aligned.
And I’m not here to say it felt easy because entrepreneurship is never easy. It just felt more aligned.
Then came the networking opportunities.
Suddenly, events and connections started appearing that aligned perfectly with the exact community I was trying to build: ambitious women balancing motherhood, business, creativity, and big dreams alongside real life. Every time I leaned deeper into this business, another aligned opportunity seemed to appear. Another conversation, connection, or room full of women I was meant to meet.
And the timing of it all felt almost too perfect to ignore.
Maybe it was pattern recognition in motion. Some might call it intuition. Maybe it was God nudging me in the right direction.
Either way, it felt impossible to ignore.
Sometimes, one of the biggest signs you’re building the right business is that you simply can’t shake it. The excitement keeps pulling you back in, the ideas keep flowing, and opportunities keep appearing at exactly the right time.
When that happens, pay attention.
This is my second business, and this time around… it just feels right.
Not perfect, effortless, or magically free of stress or uncertainty. But aligned.
With my first business, I constantly felt like I was hitting a wall. Like I was always trying to prove myself or convince people to see the value in what I was building. Even with many accolades, features, and external success, it somehow still never felt like enough.
There was always this underlying feeling of forcing it. But this business feels different.
From the very beginning, there was a sense of clarity and connection I hadn’t experienced before. The ideas flowed naturally. The community started forming organically. The mission felt bigger than just building a brand. It felt meaningful.
That feeling matters.
Sometimes one of the biggest signs you’re on the right path isn’t explosive growth or overnight success. Sometimes it’s simply the internal peace of knowing, “I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.”
Now, that doesn’t mean self-doubt magically disappears because whew… your brain will absolutely still question everything at 2 a.m. for no reason whatsoever. That’s just part of entrepreneurship.
But even in those moments of doubt, the deeper feeling underneath it all still feels right.
And that difference changes everything.
This one was crystal clear for me.
The moment I started speaking this business out into the world (sharing the vision, talking about the mission, wearing the apparel in public) the response was night and day compared to my first business.
Instead of a casual, “Oh cool,” the reactions became:
“Oh my gosh, I LOVE this.”
“This is such a needed brand.”
“Wait… where can I get that hat?!”
“I can’t wait to see what you do with this.”
That shift told me everything I needed to know. Because when something truly resonates, people feel it.
At first, the validation shows up in small ways:
Little by little, those moments start stacking up.
And while it may not happen in the volume or at the speed you hoped for, those tiny moments of validation are often proof that your business is landing exactly where it’s supposed to.
Especially when you’re building something rooted in purpose, community, creativity, or impact.
Because even when growth feels slow, impact is still happening behind the scenes.
And sometimes, those quiet moments of outside validation are the reminder you need that what you’re building matters far more than you realize.
When you’re in the thick of building a business while also juggling everything life throws your way as a working mom, it’s incredibly easy to convince yourself you’re not making progress because you’re not seeing huge, flashy wins.
But what about the small wins?
This season of life has taught me the importance of slowing down and reflecting, not just personally, but within my business too. I’ve had to intentionally look back at everything I’ve built over the past year and recognize how all of the little moments, opportunities, and milestones have quietly stacked up over time.
Meanwhile, growth is already happening.
For me, it looked like:
None of those moments felt life-changing on their own. But together they painted a very clear picture that momentum was building.
And that’s the sign most people underestimate.
Progress doesn’t always show up with fireworks and viral moments. Sometimes it shows up quietly in the background:
Progress doesn’t always announce itself. Sometimes it simply compounds.
And then one day, you look back and realize, “Oh wow… I’ve actually grown a lot.”
Not just your business, but you, too.
Sometimes resistance is actually a sign you’re moving in the right direction.
And no, I’m not just talking about internal resistance like fear, doubt, or overthinking at 2 a.m. (although those definitely show up too).
Sometimes the resistance comes from other people.
People questioning your vision.
Not fully understanding what you’re building.
Projecting their own fears or limitations onto you.
People suddenly becoming uncomfortable when you start showing up differently.
I’ve experienced this firsthand, and honestly, sometimes from immediate family members, which can be a hard pill to swallow.
The truth is, many generations before us were raised in a very risk-averse mindset. Stability and security were prioritized above all else, so the idea of leaving the traditional path to start a business can feel scary or difficult for them to understand.
Because of that, when I shared that I was starting a business, both this one and my previous business, I was definitely met with doubt, concern, and pushback. Not because they had a say in the matter (I was going to do what I wanted to do anyway), but because they couldn’t fully see the vision the way I could.
And if I’m being honest, it led to some really difficult conversations.
But one thing I’ve learned is that other people’s fear doesn’t automatically mean you’re making the wrong decision.
When you begin stepping into a bigger version of yourself, things tend to get louder.
Doubt increases. Distractions multiply. Fear gets creative. And sometimes, the people around you unintentionally resist the version of you that’s growing.
Annoying? Absolutely.
But not necessarily a bad sign.
A lot of the time, resistance shows up when you’re stretching beyond your comfort zone and stepping into something bigger than your current identity. Growth naturally creates friction and that makes people uncomfortable.
It’s not always a sign to stop. Sometimes it’s confirmation that what you’re building actually matters.
Because if it didn’t matter, it probably wouldn’t challenge you this much.
And honestly, some of the biggest breakthroughs in entrepreneurship happen right after the moments where you feel most uncomfortable.
So if things feel challenging but still deeply aligned, you might actually be exactly where you’re supposed to be.
If your business feels slow right now, that doesn’t automatically mean it’s not working.
We live in a world where social media makes success look instant, but what we often don’t see are the years of work behind the scenes. What looks like an overnight success is often a 10-year journey nobody witnessed.
Some businesses take 3–5 years before they make real, sustainable money. That’s normal. It doesn’t mean you’re failing.
Progress is still progress, even when it feels small.
Sometimes growth looks like:
Every business is different, which is why comparison can be so dangerous. You never truly know how long someone has been building before the world finally noticed.
So if things feel slower than you hoped, don’t immediately assume you’re doing something wrong. Some of the best businesses are built slowly, intentionally, and with longevity in mind.
You’re not behind. You’re building.
And chances are, you’re doing far better than you think you are.
Here’s to all the incredible Moms juggling a million things—keep shining bright, cheering each other on, and building the life you love!
Xoxo,
Ashley
