A big reason I started Boss Mama CEO was to support other women navigating the same season of life I am—motherhood and entrepreneurship.
In my previous business, people often talked about collaboration, but behind the scenes, it felt incredibly cutthroat and competitive. That just isn’t the kind of community I’m looking for, and I knew I wasn’t the only one who felt that way.
Through Boss Mama CEO, I’ve been able to build a community of women who genuinely support, uplift, and inspire one another instead of competing against each other. Watching women celebrate each other’s wins, share resources, and cheer each other on has been one of the most fulfilling parts of this journey.
Jenna’s story is such a refreshing example of what that kind of support can look like. She’s been surrounded by women who have been cheering her on for years. In fact, they were a huge reason she started her business in the first place. They encouraged her to take a leap she wasn’t sure she was ready for, and because of that, she now has a thriving company. How often do you hear stories like that?
We all need more women in our lives like Jenna’s friends and coworkers. That’s exactly what the Boss Mama CEO community is all about. Heck, they even volunteered to let her practice injections on them! If that’s not supportive friendship, I don’t know what is.
I relate to Jenna’s story in a lot of ways. One of the biggest is that we’ve both experienced the challenges of divorce and the impact it can have on our family and children. Unlike my story, though, Jenna’s business flourished during her divorce. It became one of her greatest sources of motivation during an incredibly difficult season.
I truly believe everything happens for a reason, even when we can’t see it in the moment. Jenna used that challenging chapter as fuel to work even harder, driven by her desire to provide for her family, create amazing memories, and build a life she loves. And she’s absolutely crushing it.
I can’t wait for you to learn more about her journey below. Be sure to check her out on social media and show her some love with a follow!

My name is Jenna Hurt and I’m the owner of Glow FX Beauty.
We are an in-home and mobile med spa business specializing in tox, GLP-1s, microneedling, and peptides. Our mission is to empower women to feel their absolute best while providing exceptional service at a reasonable and approachable price point.
I’m a Family Nurse Practitioner by trade and still actively practice Internal Medicine. Funny enough, this whole journey started when I was working in an office that had a med spa across the street. The staff would go over on their lunch breaks for Botox, and the girls constantly joked that I should just learn to inject and do theirs instead.
At the time, I had zero interest. I was a busy NP, a wife, and a momma — I truly didn’t think I had time to learn a whole new skill. But those girlies would not take no for an answer. So I finally decided to learn the bare minimum needed to avoid messing up their faces… and the rest is history.
Their results came out amazing, and I absolutely loved it. That’s when I really started investing in my education, technique, and training as an injector.
The “tox party” concept came naturally because I was just starting out and didn’t want to open a brick-and-mortar location or leave my Internal Medicine position. I advertised one single time in my local community and honestly have never advertised again. My entire business has grown through word-of-mouth referrals, which has been incredible because I’ve met so many amazing clients and built such a supportive community of women supporting women.
Now we also have two amazing nurses covering different territories, and they are absolute microneedling gurus.
GlowFX is busy, growing, and thriving, and we currently serve clients throughout Virginia, DC, Maryland, and West Virginia.

When my business started, I had a toddler and a newborn at home.
Of course it has been challenging! Balancing family life, a full-time job, kiddos, and building a side hustle is exhausting at times and definitely comes with plenty of ups and downs.
That’s actually one of the reasons the tox party concept works so well — the girls don’t have to worry about childcare because they’re already home! And when clients come to my house, my goal is always to make the appointment and treatment as smooth, comfortable, and easy as possible. Most appointments take 15 minutes or less, which is perfect for busy moms trying to squeeze a little self-care into their day.
Honestly, most of my clients have become like family. They’re welcomed into my home, love on my dog Jackson, and see my kids running in and out throughout the day. Even my 100-year-old Grandpa gets in on the action sometimes and proudly acts as my doorman when he’s visiting.

In the midst of growing my business, I also went through a divorce. I’m very blessed that it was as amicable as possible and that we’ve maintained a good co-parenting relationship, but no divorce is ever truly easy.
Honestly, my business came into my life at exactly the right time because it gave me the ability to continue supporting myself and my family independently. What started as a small side hustle quickly became something so much bigger — not just financially, but personally too. It gave me confidence, purpose, flexibility, and a community of amazing women during a season of life that was incredibly challenging.

We provide med spa–style services with a strong focus on tox, along with GLP-1s, peptides, and microneedling. Our goal is to help clients feel confident, refreshed, and supported through personalized treatments and a comfortable, approachable experience.
We are busy mommas supporting other busy mommas and dads.
Our focus is on providing great results at a reasonable price point because we understand that not everyone can or wants to spend thousands of dollars on treatments every month. We believe aesthetics should feel approachable, sustainable, and fit into real life.
Our goal is to help clients maintain beautiful, natural-looking results year-round rather than only being able to treat themselves once a year. Consistency, confidence, and feeling good in your own skin is what matters most to us.

We are continuing to grow and are looking to expand even further in the future. Our goals include adding additional services and eventually opening a possible brick-and-mortar location.
What makes this journey even more exciting is that we have never truly advertised. Our business has grown steadily through word-of-mouth referrals, loyal clients, and the amazing community we’ve built. Clients have comfortably come to our home-based setting because they value the experience, results, and relationships we provide.
Now, we’re looking to level up while still maintaining the welcoming, supportive, and approachable atmosphere that helped grow GlowFX from the very beginning.
I start my day getting my kids up and out the door for school, then it’s straight into injecting! Most days are spent working from home while juggling injections and helping manage a busy Internal Medicine practice.
I spend way too much of my day on the phone — taking calls, answering provider questions, completing interviews, and handling the daily chaos that comes with running multiple moving parts at once.
As long as I’m home, I usually don’t mind clients stopping by, which sometimes means appointments happen super early or later in the evening. But no matter how busy life gets, we still try our best to have dinner together as a family… although that definitely depends on sports schedules these days.
At the end of the day, I feel really blessed that I’m able to juggle all of these things while still being home, present for my kids, and somehow still managing to tackle the never-ending laundry piles.
Go for it! That’s honestly the hardest part—just putting yourself out there. But once you take the jump, it’s completely worth it. It’s scary, no doubt, but you only regret the risks you don’t take.

Just trying to do it all over here.
Some days the kids don’t want people in the house, and sometimes they definitely don’t appreciate seeing their principal stop by for a little tox refresh. I do try to block out time where it’s just family and keep those boundaries in place, but realistically that can’t always happen when you’re balancing motherhood, business, and a growing client base all at the same time.
It’s definitely not a perfect system, but we’ve made it work, and honestly, I think that real-life, lived-in atmosphere is part of what makes clients feel so comfortable with us in the first place.
I try to include my kids and family in the business as much as I can. My kids sometimes even answer the door or offer refreshments to clients, which definitely makes for some funny and memorable moments.

I’m also a big believer in “work hard, play harder,” so we make it a priority to take 2–3 family vacations a year. It really gives us a chance to disconnect from the day-to-day, reconnect with each other, and focus on making memories together.
You’re constantly “on” — there really isn’t an off switch. Everyone is watching you, and it can feel like you don’t get to have a day where you’re tired, quiet, or just not in the mood to talk. Even when I go to the grocery store, I’ll run into clients, sometimes even when I’m not 100% sure I recognize them, and I still have to show up with a smile and be approachable.
Even little things like driving can cross your mind — wondering, what if I accidentally cut off a client? It creates this constant awareness that comes with being visible in your own community and running a business built on relationships and trust.

Social media is essentially your marketing now—it’s the first place people look or ask about you. It’s been a huge part of my growth, but it also comes with its own challenges.
At the same time, it can give people the impression that they already know you before they’ve ever actually met you in person. That creates a different layer of expectation and visibility that you constantly have to manage.
It’s also another role in itself that requires time and effort—planning, filming, posting, and staying consistent on top of everything else already going on.
Being and staying positive is something I really try to prioritize. I have an amazing family, supportive friends, a busy business, and incredible employees—I genuinely have a lot to be grateful for.
Because of that, I don’t feel like I have a reason to stay down or look at things negatively. Of course, life is still life and there are hard days, but overall, I try to stay grounded in gratitude and keep perspective on how far things have come.
Girl no — if it’s your dream, the blood, sweat, and tears are always worth it.
You might have to shift your approach along the way, but you have to stay adaptable, willing to listen, and open to learning. Nothing about building something meaningful comes easy, even when it looks effortless from the outside.
No one will ever hate on someone for trying, but nothing truly worth having comes easy. And even the people who make it look simple? They’re usually just really good at handling what’s happening behind the scenes and keeping it moving anyway.

If there’s one thing Jenna’s story reminds us, it’s that we’re better together. When you have a community behind you—people who cheer you on, lift you up, and remind you of what’s possible—you can accomplish so much more than you ever could alone. Her journey is proof that leaning on your tribe isn’t a weakness; it’s one of the greatest strengths you can have.
I also loved how much I related to her commitment to family. Between running a business, juggling sports schedules, and trying to keep up with the never-ending demands of life, making time to sit down and have dinner together can feel like a major accomplishment. It’s a priority in my home, too, and it’s a reminder that success isn’t just about what we build in our businesses. It’s also about the memories we create with the people we love.
And can we talk about the pressure of always being “on”? As business owners, we’re often the face of our brands. We’re showing up online, serving clients, networking, marketing, and wearing all the hats. Some days, all you want to do is throw on sweatpants, ignore your notifications, and disappear for a little while. Jenna’s honesty about that struggle is so refreshing because it’s real. The truth is, none of us have it all together all the time—and that’s exactly what makes us human.
Jenna’s story is a beautiful reminder that you don’t have to choose between building a successful business and building a meaningful life. With the right support system, a whole lot of determination, and the courage to be yourself, you can create both.
