Boss Mama CEO Story: New Beginnings

July 30, 2026

I’ve met a lot of women entrepreneurs over the years, and one thing I’ve noticed is that it’s rare to meet someone who never imagined owning a business. Almost every woman I’ve talked to has said the same thing: I always knew I’d have my own business someday. The entrepreneurial itch was always there. They just didn’t know when they would finally take the leap.

I’ve also noticed another common thread. Many women don’t start their businesses until they’ve spent years building experience working for someone else. And that’s exactly what Sheeri did.

After spending more than a decade working in clinical settings, Sheeri took a leap of faith and opened her own private practice, all while raising two young kiddos. That takes an incredible amount of courage.

Like most of us, her why is what keeps her going and always will. Our why is arguably the most powerful asset we have in our business. It’s what fuels our passion, guides our decisions, and keeps us moving forward when things get hard. More than just the reason we started, it’s the foundation that not only drives our business but also sustains it through every season.

Starting her business has challenged Sheeri in ways she never expected. But that’s often where the greatest growth happens. By stepping outside her comfort zone and choosing the hard path, she’s discovered strengths, resilience, and confidence she may never have uncovered otherwise.

I hope you’ll take a few minutes to read Sheeri’s story below. And be sure to show her some love on social media!

Tell us who you are!

My name is Sheeri Jonnala, MS, RD and I’m the owner of New Beginnings by Sheeri.

We love a good origin story, but first, give us your short + sweet intro!

I’m a Registered Dietitian with over 10 years of experience in both clinical and wellness settings. I help individuals cut through the noise of nutrition advice and build realistic, sustainable habits that actually work for their lifestyle.

After years of working as a Dietitian and gaining experience in a variety of settings, I realized I wanted to build a career that allowed me to prioritize both my passion and my family. I wanted the flexibility to truly show up for my girls while continuing to help others improve their health. In late summer of 2025, I started my private practice — and I haven’t looked back since. Starting my own practice has also given me the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in my community. I’ve been able to help women create healthy, realistic, and sustainable goals that support their nutrition and wellness journeys.

Which came first—the business or the babies? Tell us how your family + business journeys intersected.

I started my private practice after having my two girls (4yo and 5yo).

We know it’s a wild ride—tell us how you’ve balanced building your dream biz while raising your crew. The good, the tough, the real.

It hasn’t been easy — I can definitely say that. Balancing the demands of starting a business while raising two young children has challenged me in ways I never expected. Through it all, I’ve learned that I thrive on challenges and that I’m an incredibly hard worker. The biggest challenge has been time management. If only there were more hours in the day! Right now, I often find myself working before my kids wake up and after they go to bed, but I know this season won’t last forever. I’m putting in the work now to create a more balanced and flexible future for both my family and my career.

What’s one obstacle you’ve overcome?

One of the biggest challenges I’ve had to overcome — and am still continuing to work through — is imposter syndrome. Even after years of experience, there are still moments when I question whether people will want to work with me or truly find value in what I offer. Over time, I’ve learned the importance of reminding myself that I am knowledgeable, experienced, and genuinely passionate about helping others. I’ve had to give myself plenty of pep talks and trust that I am capable of making a meaningful difference in the lives of the people I work with.

Tell us your superpower—what’s your product, service, or special offering?

I provide virtual nutrition counseling services.

What’s the magic that sets you apart?

My approach to nutrition counseling is rooted in connection, compassion, and real-life application. I meet clients exactly where they are—no judgment, no unrealistic expectations. Whether you’re starting from scratch or looking to refine your current habits, I help you set practical, achievable goals tailored to your lifestyle.

Spill the tea — any big milestones, press shoutouts, or launches on the horizon?

I will be hitting my 1 year in business this summer!

What’s the single best piece of advice or favorite tool you’d share with other mamas building their businesses?

Believe in yourself because if you don’t, no one will.

What’s been your biggest challenge juggling motherhood and running a business?

The hardest part is finding balance between being present for my family and giving my business the attention it needs to grow. My kids need me, and I know my business also depends on the time and energy I invest in it. I do my best to make space for both, while also learning to be okay with the fact that some days, work simply can’t come first.

What’s your approach to balancing business and family? We love the real, unfiltered stories!

My approach to balancing business and family is honestly building a village and asking for help. Although women have superpowers, we cannot do it all and I have had to learn that it is ok to ask for help.

Looking back, what’s something you wish you had known before starting your business?

I wish I had known how alone and hard it would feel. I have learned to find likeminded people in my community and network.

What tool, resource, or habit has completely changed the game for you?

Every morning I create a to-do list and I work through it daily.

What mindset shifts have helped you keep going during hard seasons?

I remind myself why I am doing this and who will benefit. I am running my own practice to live the life I want and I do this for my family.

What words of encouragement would you give a Mom tempted to give up on her business dream?

I would tell her that building a business while raising a family is incredibly hard, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t capable of doing it. Your dreams matter and you have to give yourself grace. Most importantly, don’t let fear or imposter syndrome convince you to quit.

It’s amazing how many similarities we womenpreneurs and mompreneurs share. Hearing stories like Sheeri’s has been incredibly eye-opening because it reminds us that so many of us are navigating the same fears, challenges, and self-doubt.

At some point, we’ve all felt alone in this journey. Doubt has crept in for all of us at some point. Imposter syndrome is something we’ve all felt. Balancing the demands of a growing business with raising a family is a challenge we’ve all wrestled with.

And while those struggles aren’t easy, there’s something incredibly powerful about realizing we don’t have to carry them alone. When we share our experiences openly, the weight becomes a little lighter. That is the power of community.

Like Sheeri, so many women in this season discover that the best thing they can do for themselves is:

  1. Find their people.
  2. Remember that their business doesn’t always have to take the front seat, and that’s okay.

One of the things I admire most about Sheeri is how transparent she is about her journey. She’s willing to talk about both the wins and the struggles, and that’s exactly what Boss Mama CEO is all about.

We’re building a community that is unfiltered, raw, and real. Because when we hide the hard parts, we miss the opportunity to encourage the women walking the very same path. Our stories don’t just connect us. They remind someone else that they’re not alone.

I’d love to feature more Boss Mamas like Sheeri. If you know someone who deserves the spotlight, please reach out and send me their info at ashley@bossmamaceo.com or via my contact page here. And hey, if that’s you, I love a little self-brag too! Send me your details so we can shine the spotlight on you as well.

Here’s to all the incredible Moms juggling a million things—keep shining bright, cheering each other on, and building the life you love!

Ashley
